Anne LaBrie is a digital photo artist and painter living in Santa Cruz, California who loves to create – stories, poems, recipes…and art. She began taking photos on her daily walks as a way to appreciate nature and as an extension of her energy healing practice. Anne found that the same energetic principles that informed her own healing also connected her to her creative process.
It is usually during these walks that Anne finds spontaneous and fleeting forms in nature. These simple abstract forms are then transformed into colorful, bold and expressive works of art. Universal symbols and metaphors also play an important role in her artwork. In Anne’s opinion, viewing art has the ability to heal by shifting our perspective. For those few moments, time is suspended and the viewers are transported – sometimes to another place and sometimes within themselves. Her goal is to create art that encourages interpretations from each viewer – of any age.
Anne has exhibited her artwork throughout Santa Cruz County. Her art career highlights being nominated for the Rydell Fellowship Award, OM Gallery solo exhibition, a 2-month exhibition at the Scotts Valley Library, and an upcoming exhibition at the Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History. She has also exhibited at the San Carlos Art & Wine Festival, as well as festivals in both Mountain View and San Francisco, CA. She was juried into the Digital Arts: California’s online exhibit “Simply the Best2” in 2013. Anne was a nominee for the Rydell Fellowship Grant for the Community Foundation of Santa Cruz County for 2016/2017.
In addition, Anne has been a part of several charitable events and auctions throughout Santa Cruz including the Scotts Valley Artisans Holiday Benefit in 2014 and the Hearts for the Arts in 2016. One of her favorite things was participating in a community painting of a giant mural honoring Santa Cruz Sky Park, the aviation field that operated for 36 years near the site of the current library. Anne’s artwork is also in private collections in the United States.
Anne is also a successful licensed artist through both Kess InHouse and Wear That Art. Her designs are featured on products that are available through Wayfair, Houzz and Amazon.
When she is not taking pictures, Anne’s other interests include beachcombing, gardening, whale watching – and sound healing. She especially enjoys listening to music and dancing as part of her art-making process!
In the future, Anne hopes to further contribute to Creative Placemaking in her local community and has dreams of having her very colorful, very expressive and very large artworks shown in very large venues! For more information about Anne and her amazing artwork, please visit
